June 2022 Updates

Car Boot Sale

The first Cornfield car boot sale went ahead on Sunday 19th June and was considered a success by the team. Ten ‘seller’ cars attended, along with lots of buyers, many of whom didn’t know Cornfield existed prior to this event. Many of the buyers that attended have said that they will come as sellers at future events, now that they know the lay of the land and how it operates.

These car boot sales are planned to run every fortnight, on Sunday mornings throughout the summer, with the next one planned for Sunday 3rd July.

Pond

A pond has been created to encourage amphibious wildlife, and one of the users of Cornfield is planning to introduce some of the tadpoles from their garden pond into this.

Wildlife

While the team were strimming the long grass at the edges of the field this week, they came across a little shrew.

You will be pleased to hear that the shrew was alive and well and was placed back into long grass to go on it’s way.

Uniforms

As the volunteers need to carry out marshalling of vehicles during any event where vehicles are coming on or off the field, such as during the car boot sale, new high-visibility vests have been provided, so that it is easy to see who the Cornfield volunteers are. A couple of photos of willing volunteers are provided below, modelling the new uniform!
